Troop 104 Visits
Alaska...
By: Eddie C. - Life Scout
In June 2204, Troop 104 piled their bags in a couple of vans and set out for Tampa International Airport. After a few minutes
they were off towards the northernmost state.
Several planes and a car ride later, they found themselves being welcomed into the First Presbyterian Church of Anchorage!
After a hard day's night at the Church, they got up to explore Anchorage in their rented vans. This ended abruptly before
lunch, at which time they found an appropriate restaurant to dine within.
Post lunch they traveled to the Byron Glacier trail where they began their glacier hike, filled with slippery foliage at the
bottom and glacier snow at the top. They then traversed the blueberry trail, from which point they climbed to the summit of
Flat Top.
Then they journeyed to Six Mile River where they hopped into a raft and bumped, crashed, and splashed their way down a Level 5
river. After which, they stayed in a hotel overnight only to finally wake on a boat swaying this way and that way on the waves.
Numerous sick stomachs and halibuts later, they arrived safely back at the church.
The next morning they found themselves biking up a storm in a beautiful valley. Later, the finished up their Alaska adventures
by salmon fishing in a very fast moving river.
After saying goodbye to Anchorage and their generous host, they filed into the plane and set off for home.
